Walking by Faith, Not by Sight
Key Verse:
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7
Walking by faith and not by sight can feel like stepping into the unknown. It means trusting God even when we don’t see the whole picture or understand what’s happening. This kind of trust requires us to rely on God’s promises, not our circumstances.
Think about Abraham. God called him to leave his home and go to a place He would show him later (Genesis 12:1). Abraham didn’t have all the details—he didn’t know exactly where he was going or how long it would take. But he trusted God and took the first step. That’s what it means to walk by faith. It’s about believing that God’s plan is good, even when you can’t see it yet.
Walking by faith might look like trusting God when you lose a job. Instead of giving in to fear, you choose to believe that God will provide. Or maybe you feel called to start something new, like going back to school or opening a business, but you’re unsure how it will all work out. Walking by faith means taking that first step, trusting that God will guide you.
A friend of mine once faced a difficult decision. She felt God was leading her to move to a different city for a ministry opportunity, but everything about it felt uncertain. She didn’t know anyone there, and it meant leaving a stable job. She wrestled with doubt, but after praying and seeking God, she chose to step out in faith. Over time, God provided her with a new community and opportunities that far exceeded her expectations. Her story reminds us that God honors our faith when we trust Him with the unknown. In Matthew 14:22-33, Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water toward Jesus. As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he was fine. But when he focused on the wind and waves, he began to sink. The same is true for us. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, instead of our problems, we can keep moving forward.
Faith isn’t about denying reality. It’s about trusting God in the middle of it. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” This means believing that God is working behind the scenes, even when you can’t see any evidence yet.If you’re facing a situation where it’s hard to walk by faith, remember that you’re not alone. Even the disciples struggled with doubt, and they walked with Jesus in person! The good news is that God doesn’t ask us to have perfect faith—He asks us to have faith. He meets us where we are and helps us grow.
One practical way to walk by faith is through prayer. When you’re unsure about something, bring it to God and ask for His guidance. Then, trust Him to lead you, even if the path isn’t clear. Another way is to stay grounded in God’s Word. The Bible is full of promises that remind us of God’s faithfulness. Memorising verses like Proverbs 3:5-6— “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”—can encourage you in moments of doubt.
Faith is like a muscle—it grows stronger the more you use it. Start with small steps of faith, and over time, you’ll find it easier to trust God with the bigger things. Today, choose to take a step of faith. Trust that God is with you, even in the uncertainty, and believe that He will make a way. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you to His perfect plan.

Lean not on our own understanding, such a simple sentence, with mighty implications. Its telling us that we dont have the answers, that certain situations and circumstances are beyond our comprehension. It is the trust in the Lord that sets us free, our faith in what is written, knowing that Gods promises for our life will come to pass. Though it may tarry, it will come to pass.
Why has my prayer not been answered? Why have i lost my job? God is an on time God, He will meet us at our point of need always. It is when we question our misfortune, that we need our faith to be at its strongest.
God has a plan for all of us Jeremiah 29:11″For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” HALLELUJAH AMEN.
This is a promise from God, anytime i question my faith, Jeremiah 29:11 is what i read. The Lord will prosper me and harm can never be my portion. The Lord plans to give me gope and a future. I am on His to-do list. We will not be forgotton. This instantly renews my faith.
Faith is also our key to salvation. It is through our faith and the grace of God we are saved. Ephesians 2:8
[8] for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
[9] not of works, that no one would boast.
‘Every disappointment is a blessing’, it is another chance for us to show the world and our Saviour, that we have unwavering faith in the eye of any storm. It is easy to show faith when the harvest is bountiful and the sun is shining, but much harder when our plates are empty and the rain is falling.
We will have the strength to show our faith no matter the situation or circumstance, in Jesus name.
