UNDER GOD’S SHADOW
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1)
The psalmist in Psalm 91 describes what is obtainable when the shadow of the Almighty hovers over a man. Prophet Hosea also described to us what can be gotten under God’s shadow in Hosea 14 verse 7. In Hosea 14:7, we see that it is a place of restoration, revival, growth, flourishing, blossoming and scent. This signifies that when we abide under the shadow of God, whatever is lost is restored, whatever is dead or weak is revived, we experience growth, we flourish, we blossom and become the desire of all men because of the pleasurable scent that spreads through us.
The Psalmist in Psalm 91 further adds that under God’s shadow, we are assured of protection. Protection from snares , from pestilence, terrors , evil arrows, death and destruction, a place of judgement of the wicked, protection from evil and from injury (Psalm 91:2-11)
It is also a place of dominion over all powers of the enemy (Psalm 91:12-13), a place where the love of God prevails over us, a place of uplifting (Psalm 91:14), a place where prayers are answered (Psalm 91:15), a place where we have the presence of God (Psalm 91:15), a place of honour (Psalm 91:15), a place where God satisfies us with long life and shows us His salvation (Psalm 91:16)
However, the benefits of abiding under God’s shadow is not meant for everyone; there are requirements. In Hosea 14:7, one of the keys is to return back to God (repentance), by turning away from everything that has taken the place of God in our lives. In Psalm 91:1 we are clearly told that whoever must abide under God’s shadow must dwell in God’s presence. Your personal altar must continually be burning with fire, you must always seek the fellowship of the brethren (stop missing church services).
If you want to become the desire of all nations that God has declared you to be in Isaiah 60:3, you need to repent from every evil way, addiction and sinful activity, and determine to seek to dwell in His presence at all times. This does not mean you will abandon all you are meant to be doing but God will become the priority and centre of your life.
