The Childlike Faith

26th March 2024

”And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.“
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus said we must become like little children. What Jesus is talking about here is the innocence of a little child. The good childlike qualities of absolute trust, following and believing.

There was a story about a village that was experiencing famine due to lack of rain for a long time. They waited and waited, but later got fed up. No one could farm because there was no rain. Then, one day, the village elders gathered and concluded that unless they sought God’s face for divine intervention, their situation would remain hopeless.

So they decided to gather all the villagers together to pray to God for heaven to open and rain. Everyone came outside to the village square to pray. While everyone was gathering, they noticed a little child who was also coming to pray. But the child wasn’t just coming to pray. He was coming with his faith. The child held an umbrella. Oh wow!!! This kid was sure the rain would fall, so he came with his umbrella so as not to be beaten by rain. Only this kid came with an umbrella. Everyone else only came to pray.

This child must have been taught in the children class of the mighty things God did when people prayed. He knows if God can part the Red Sea, turn the valley of the dry bones into a valiant army, then causing the rain to fall is nothing.

This is what Jesus demands from you and I. To lean not in your own ways but absolutely put your hope and trust in Him, for He is able to do exceeding and abundantly above what we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

While the villagers were praying, heavens opened up, and heavy rain fell. Everyone started running up and down looking for shade except this little child. He had an umbrella.

Be like this child, let your actions speak that you absolutely trust God. Because faith is more in doing than in just believing. God wants to see you demonstrate that faith you have in him. It makes him joyous, knowing that you trust him to exceedingly far above what you can ask for or imagine.

As you trust God and act in faith, you will receive abundant miracles and answers to your needs

Confession:
I trust in the Lord like a little child. I will lean not in my own ways and understanding, but I will absolutely trust and follow Jesus.

  14. Childlike faith involves qualities such as trust, innocence, humility, dependence on God, and a willingness to learn. Children often trust without doubting or overthinking things; they have pure hearts and are open to believing in what they cannot see. Similarly, having childlike faith means approaching God with simplicity and openness, trusting His promises without skepticism or cynicism.
