My help comes from God
Text: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalms 121:1-2 NIV
The parable of the drowning man, also known as Two Boats and a Helicopter, is a short story, often told as a joke, most often about a devoutly Christian man, frequently a minister, who refuses several rescue attempts in the face of approaching floodwaters, each time telling the would-be rescuers(2 boats and a helicopter) that God will save him. After turning down the last, he drowns in the flood. After his death, the man meets God and asks why he did not intervene. God responds that he sent all the would-be rescuers to the man’s aid on the expectation he would accept the help, highlighting the axiom that God acts through humans and other earthly entities.
It is important to know our God is great and has incredible power hence his ability to solve any problem but at the same time, we need to know that what way or means God chooses is not dependent on us. So as God’s children just like the short story thought us, we need to be open minded and sensitive especially when we are in need.
The story that comes to mind to drive home this point is the story of the man at the pool of Bethesda. He was there for 38 years because he thought he needed the help of a man. How long have you remained in your situation because you thought your help would come from a friend, relative etc. Wake up my brother/ Sister and see the provision of God.
Naaman is also another man that almost missed his kairos moment because he limited his thinking to how God would heal him after the man of God asked him to go wash in a certain river he considered dirty.
Brethren, in the Bible passage we read, God is endowed with so many tools( maker of heaven and earth) and resources and can use any of these. Remember all blessings come from God through men to men.
Your duty is to lift up your eyes to the lord, God will then do His part by sending help the best way He chooses.

Thank You Pastor Enoch for such wonderfully scripted devotion. I was captivated by the Parable of the 2 boats 🚢 and a helicopter 🚁, it eased me into the message of the today.
It reminds me of the Prophet that went into the lion’s 🦁cage of the University of Ibadan Zoological Garden trying to recreate Daniel moment in the lion’s den and he ended up being a victim of his actions when he bath in his own blood and never lived to tell the story. The lion was also put down by the authorities because he has tasted humans blood.
The only good thing that came of that story was, it inspired Alhaji Dauda Epo Akara to write his greatest monster hit that relaunched his career and gave him national recognition. Which shows God works in mysterious ways.
May the Lord Almighty give us the discerning Spirit to know the right thing to do in every moment.

God has so many resources and tools he can use to rescue and can choose any of these at anytime.
You can’t pick and choose the one you want God to use for you.
Trust him because he has got your back but also be sensitive to the diverse ways God moves, this is important so you don’t miss your kairos moment.
