Make a stand for God
”But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.“
Daniel 1:8 KJV
Daniel and his three friends (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) purposed in their hearts to make a stand for God. They turned down the king’s meal in obedience and consecration to God. They were in captivity but still chose to stand for God. These boys were not enticed with the privileges their peers were getting from the king. They knew that the God they served is greater than the king.
After Daniel and his three friends purposed not to eat the king’s meats, the scriptures says that after three years when they were brought before the king, they appeared more nourished than their peers who ate the king’s meats. Daniel and his friends were ten times better than their peers (Daniel 1:3-21). Precious one, no one makes a stand for God and won’t stand out in life. To stand for God is to be outstanding in life. (Daniel 11:32)
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego also refused to bow to other gods, and they were sentenced to death for that act. They stood for God even unto death (Daniel 3:16-18). They were thrown into the burning fiery furnace for standing with God, but guess what? God showed up for them (Daniel 3:19-25)
We also saw what it means to make a stand for God in the life of Joseph. Joseph refused to sleep with his master’s wife after she lured him. Joseph said “How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God” (Genesis 39:7-9). Joseph stood for God and refused to defile himself. He didn’t let the short-term enjoyment rob him of his glorious destiny in God.
We have seen that it eventually pays to make a stand for God. You must not defile yourself with the corruption that is in the world. You must make a stand for Jesus! Whether in business, in your workplace, or in your school, people must know where you stand. You must represent God accurately and make Him proud.

Wow this is so timely…Just last night I was reading the book of Daniel and saying regardless of anything I will not let go of my faith in God like Daniel and I woke up to this devotion !
