God, Where Are You?
Verse:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
There are moments in life when we feel completely alone, abandoned even. Times when the pain seems too much to bear, when we question God’s presence, or when everything feels dark and silent. It’s in these moments that we cry out, “God, where are You?” We may look around us and wonder why God hasn’t come through for us in the way we hoped. These seasons of doubt and despair can leave us feeling as though God has forgotten us. But the truth is, even when we can’t feel Him, He’s still near.
Take the example of a man named John. John was a devoted Christian, always trying his best to live out his faith. But one year, he went through a particularly challenging time. His job became increasingly stressful, his relationships started to suffer, and on top of that, he was diagnosed with a health condition. His world seemed to be falling apart, and for the first time in his life, he felt like God was nowhere to be found.
Every prayer seemed to go unanswered. John cried out to God, “Where are You, Lord? Why aren’t You helping me? I’ve always tried to follow You, so why is this happening to me?”
One evening, while John was sitting in the quiet of his home, he found himself flipping through the Bible, looking for answers. He stumbled upon Psalm 34:18, which says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Those words pierced his heart. He realised that in his darkest moments, when he felt utterly abandoned, God was actually closer to him than ever.God doesn’t promise that life will be free of pain or struggle, but He does promise to be with us through it all. Even when we don’t see or feel Him, He is there. He’s in the middle of the storm with us, offering His comfort and peace, even when we can’t feel it right away.
John’s story is a reminder that when we ask, “God, where are You?” we can rest assured that He is not far away. God is near the brokenhearted. He doesn’t leave us in our pain, even if it feels like He does. We may not always understand why we go through difficult seasons, but we can trust that God’s presence is with us, and He has a purpose even in the hardest times.
When you feel like God is distant, remember the truth of Psalm 34:18. Even if you can’t feel it, God is close to you. He sees your struggles, He hears your cries, and He is working in ways you may not immediately understand. Keep holding on, because His presence is never far.

This reminds me of a story of a man who went to heaven and God was showing him that He was walking with him but all he could show was footprints. So he was shown two set of foot prints( his and Gods) then there come a time when there were only footprints of one person. The man said to the Lord why did you leave me here, I was walking alone? Then God said those are not your footprints , they are mine- that’s the time I was carrying you when things were really hard for you. God will never leave us nor forsake us.

God is always near to us. He even sent His only begotton Son to be even nearer to us. Gods mercy endurith forever.
Gods presence is always visible if we look closely, the breath we draw, the food on our table, the journey mercies. We all carry the evidence of Gods love and closeness to us at all times.
In the old testament, God was close to His Prophets, he made Hiself known to them. He worked through the men of God. Since Jesus came and died for us, all believers now have the Holy Spirit living inside of them, God is with us all the time. How blessed are we to have this. John 14:26 says that the comforter will remind us and teach us all things, showing that God is with us at all times.
Times of doubt will come, troubles of everyday life will hinder us, but if we hold on to what Jesus told us and are filled with the Holy Spirit, we can never not feel His presence in our lives.
I pray that the Holy Spirit lives inside my family and i, that His presence is always felt and noticed, that He continues to teach and remind me in all circumstances, in Jesus mighty name, amen.
