Forgive And Let God Do The Rest
Ephesians 4:32: And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
People like to say, “I can forgive, but I cannot forget.” Have you heard that before? Now, in the first place, nowhere in the Bible does God tell you to forgive and then to forget. It is not in the Bible! The devil is adding something here to make the whole thing burdensome.
God only tells us to forgive because God in Christ has forgiven us a debt we cannot pay. When we do this, we do ourselves a favor because harboring bitterness and unforgiveness can sometimes destroy our health!
So just forgive and let God take care of the rest. When you really forgive, sometimes, He makes you forget. But sometimes, you still remember the incident because it was a major thing in your life. Yet, when you look back at it, the pain is no more there. The sting is gone and you are not bitter.
Joseph had forgiven his brothers before they came and bowed before him. He remembered what they did to him, but he did not remember it with bitterness. (Genesis 50:15–21) So you may remember the incident, but the bitterness is gone because you have put the cross in the picture — “God in Christ forgave me. Daddy, I forgive you. Mama, I forgive you. My cousin, I forgive you.”
When you forgive, forgive by faith, not by your feelings. We walk by faith, not feelings. (2 Corinthians 5:7) Some people are waiting for feelings — “I am waiting, Father, for the right emotion to come on me to forgive that person.” That “right emotion” may never come!
No, forgive by faith, and do it once and for all. Spend time in prayer. Take out your diary and write it down: “Father, I bring this person before you. You know what he did to me. Father, as You forgave me through Jesus’ cross, even though I did not deserve it, by faith, I now forgive this person and I let my anger against him go in Jesus’ name. Amen!”
Once you forgive by faith, you will see the sting of bitterness removed from your heart. You will experience the peace and joy of God filling your mind, and see a greater measure of wholeness in your body!

When I forgive others, I free myself from bitterness, Sickness and unforgiveness. I receive Grace to Let GO.

I thank God for forgiving me even though I do not deserve it. Help me God to extend that same grace unto others. Amen

Amen !!! Thank you Pastor for blessing us with this devotional. Someone deeply offended me last year. I made the choice to forgive even though the pain was very present. I chose to forgive them and let God take over and kept praying, because I understood the value of forgiving others. But after reading this devotional I realised that truly when I look back now, I no longer look back in bitterness and as before – I didn’t realise that God has really taken over and healed my heart until, I read this devotional.
What a blessing it is to know the name of Jesus. Thank you Father, because I know I can cast burdens onto you, fully knowing with confidence that you will always take care of the rest. In Jesus Name, I give thanks, Amen 🙏🏾
Amen wow !!! 🙌🏽 thank you so much pastor everyday we learn something new. This whole time I burdened myself with forgetting part which I found very hard cause, how can I give myself partial amnesia about a situation again true example of (my people perish through lack of knowledge) thank you sir for removing a burden because I would always question if I had truly forgiven because I remembered a situation.
Amen! All glory be to god. This is exactly what I needed to read this morning. I can see now I am attempting to forgive with emotion and not by faith.

Even Jesus on the cross said “forgive them for they know not what they do”
Sometimes it’s not the person, it’s the spirit behind the person influencing them as we fight not against flesh & blood but principalities & powers!

This is the world of God , and I am so grateful for this devotional. Thank you pastor for having a heart of love for us.
Years ago I was abuse very badly , I had fear and unforgivness in my heart for this person 💔 I was drinking everyday getting so drunk and driving home.
when I was out of my mind ,
I know I only got home cause Jesus took the wheel. I would wake up not knowing how I got home, but as soon I as I would wake up , what happened to me would just replay over and over in my mind and the tears would just fall down my face , my hate grow stronger and stronger.
I went back drinking from morning till night , until one day I broke down in tears on my knees and cried out to God to help me cause I did not want to be like this . This is when I felt the LOVE OF GOD come over me and told me I have to forgive myself and the person who hurt me cause his the God of second chances , God healed my heart took away that fear and replaced it with Joy everlasting. Even if I go through things I always pray for forgiveness and I will forgive, yes you do remember but it don’t hurt the way that person would like it to.
