Everything You Need
Verse:
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
Life often presents us with situations where we feel lacking—lacking money, energy, wisdom, or even strength to get through the day. It’s easy to focus on what we don’t have and let that dictate how we feel about ourselves and our circumstances. But as Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:19, God promises to supply all our needs, not according to what we have, but according to His infinite riches.
Take Maria, for example. Maria was a single mum working two jobs to support her family. Every month felt like a race to make ends meet, and there were times she wondered if she’d ever have enough to get by. One Sunday, her pastor preached on Philippians 4:19, and Maria felt God whisper to her heart: “Trust me—I am your provider.”
That week, Maria prayed for God’s provision and chose to focus on being thankful for what she had instead of worrying about what she lacked. A few days later, a neighbour dropped off groceries, saying they’d felt led to bless her family. Another friend offered to babysit her children for free, giving Maria a chance to rest. Maria realised that while she didn’t have everything she wanted, God had provided everything she needed.
This is the truth we need to hold onto: God knows our needs better than we do, and He is faithful to provide. Sometimes His provision comes in unexpected ways—a kind word from a friend, a surprising financial breakthrough, or even the strength to persevere through tough times. Other times, His provision might look like teaching us contentment and helping us see the blessings we already have.
The key is to trust that God’s supply never runs out. He doesn’t give based on the economy, our bank account, or our abilities. His provision is rooted in His love for us and His unlimited resources.
So, when you feel like you’re lacking, pause and turn to God. Ask Him to provide what you need—whether it’s wisdom, peace, finances, or strength—and trust that He will. Remember, if God didn’t hold back His own Son, He won’t hold back what you truly need (Romans 8:32).

There is a difference between our wants and our needs. We all want more, better job, nicer car, more money etc, but what do we actually need. God is a provider for all things we need. We need breath, life, provision, God delivers that for all of us.
God uses men to bless men, so that generous brother who takes you home, buys you lunch, provides a shoulder to lean on, God did that. God saw what was needed, and provided it on time.
We all need salvation, and God provided it for us. There is no way we can obtain salvation living under the law, so God made a way for us all to have salvation. Galatians 5:1
[1] Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
The truth is, God meets us at our point if need, not our wants. It doesnt mean our wants wont be met if we pray and take them to God, but that will be by Gods mercy alone. Will you as a parent let your child starve? Will you let them remain cold? How much more our heavenly father.
By the same token, will you give your child sweets everytime they ask? Will you take them cinema everytime they ask? No. We do what is best for them through our understanding and superior wisdom, just as our Father does to us.
Do not question, but be obedient to His will, all will become clear in His wisdom.
I pray this thanks giving prayer, i am thankful Lord for all you have provided, you have met me at my point of need and have been faithful my whole life. I will take my wants to you in prayer and be thankful for whatever you decide. Thank you Jesus, in Jesus mighty name, amen.
