BETTER AND GREATER
1 Kings 1:37- And moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
In order to remain relevant, it is required that as individuals, we keep improving ourselves in everything we do. Our present self should be better and greater than our previous self and likewise, our future self should be better and greater than our present self. While this is great in itself, we should also desire to do greater things than our predecessors and be better individuals than they are and also pray for our children, disciples, followers to become better and greater than us.
The Bible says in Proverbs 4:18 that “But the path of the righteous is like the shining light, that shinneth more and more unto the perfect day” and in 2 Corinthians 3:18, that we are transformed from glory to glory as we behold Christ. These point to the fact that as individuals, we are meant to get better and become greater every time.
Like Pastor Enoch always say “there is more”. There is more to you than you currently are, and there is more you can achieve than you currently have achieved. Never give up!
For every parent or leader, the prayer of such is that their children should be greater and better than them. This is shown to us by Jesus in admonishing and encouraging the disciples in John 14:12 when He said “…greater works than these shall ye do…”. Imagine all the great works that Jesus did, and yet His desire and expectation for everyone who believes in Him is that they will do greater than the things He did.
Every day of our lives, no matter the challenges we face, our expectations as Christians are that our end should be better and greater than our beginning. The bible says in Ecc 7:8 “The end of a matter is better than the beginning…”. Be rest assured that the end of your situation will become better than you ever expected, and you will become greater than you are presently.

If Jesus wanted his disciples to do greater works than him, then you don’t have any excuse to have your children, subordinates achieve greater feats than you have done.
It will require more sacrifice, commitment and guidance.
When God told David that he will not be the one to build the house of worship because of his blood stained hands, he committed to providing all that Solomon will need to build and be successful.
